Mediated Regression Analysis

Hi everyone,

First time posting on here. Greetings from Edinburgh.
Would be grateful if someone could explain what a mediated regression with an example.

I have looked up several statistics books and the internet and am confused.

Many thanks,

this link may clear it up:

an example would be the classic example of the correlation between shoe size and IQ. If you gave an IQ test to a sample of people, including young children, teen-agers, and college students, and also recorded their shoe size, you would find that shoe size and IQ are positively correlated. However, common sense tells us that shoe size has nothing to do with IQ - in reality it is age that explains the variance in IQ, so age is the mediator.
