Minitab - aggregate data

I have a data set in which the unit of analysis is the state-year. For example, the first case is Alabama/1900 , the next Alabama/1901, and so one. I want to aggregate by state taking the yearly average for a variety of variables. How can I do this in Minitab?

Most of the Minitab Stat and Graph commands have a "By variable" field. For example, you enter the column containing your state data into the by variable field for the Descriptive Statistics routine and Minitab will provide the stats for each state in that column.

Minitab may be overkill for this analysis.
Use Excel PivotTables to summarize by state and average the values.
