omnibus test

Is it possible to explain me what's an Omnibus Test ???

I find some definitions on Internet but there is'nt some good concrete example ...

As John stated, the ANOVA F statistic is an omnibus test. It tests 'overall' significance of the model. It tells you that among your means, some comparison/condition differs significantly from each other. However, it doesn't tell you which exactly. This is why we conduct Post Hoc tests after we obtain a significant omnibus, to determine where those meaningful differences are exactly.
In the same publication that I'm reading, they say that:

P=0.01 was the level of significance
The Confidence Interval of the Odds ratio is at 95%

Is it logical ???
