Random sample question.

Hello! I have a question.
There's an initial population consist of 100 girls and boys.
let's say we have a random sample from an initial population. In that random sample, there are 2 girls and 8 boys. how to estimate the number of women in the initial population based on our random sample?

Less is more. Stay pure. Stay poor.
Many will argue point estimates can be troublesome, especially when they are by themselves. This is because they usually propagate the issues surrounding null hypothesis significance testing (NHST).

@hlsmith I get what you're going for. And intervals and/or incorporating variability is important but the original question was just asking for an estimate so I think @mahi2pal is giving the right answer for the question asked. I think you're just going beyond what the question asked.
