Student t-test or ANOVA?>


I am conducting some research in which drug x may by anti-carcinogenic through the activation of enzyme y. In the experiment, enzyme y was treated with a series of concentrations of drug y and a negative control was run in parallel. The results have been collected and fitted with a bell shape curve (i.e. at moderate levels of drug x, enzyme activity is enhanced compared to the control, but at low and high concentrations enzyme is y is inhibited. Now I need to see if these results are significant.

Can I group all experimental data (i.e. a range of different concentrations) and conduct a simple students t test (i.e. control paired with experimental)?

Or is it best to conduct ANOVA to determine if there is a specific dose that has caused a significant result?
