Two continuous variables (scores), one categorical variable (gender), how to test?

I want to compare OCD scores (continuous variable) to PTSD scores (continuous variable), by gender (categorical). Basically I want to know whether OCD scores depend on PTSD scores and gender.

What can I use for this? I know I can't use two-way ANOVA because I have one continuous independent variable (PTSD scores) and one categorical independent variable (male/female) rather than two categorical independent variables.

How do you know PTSD effects OCD and not the other way around.

You would module using multiple regression (allows both categorical and continuous predictors). Can you provide a histogram for your two continuous variables. I would be looking to see if they are bounded.
