Urgent stats help needed for medical research project

Hi everyone!!

URGENT HELP NEEDED!!

Thanks for trying to help - I'm trying to submit a research grant and there are a few questions about the research results I need help with.

In basic terms, the project involves looking at a lot of medical images to determine which is the optimal dose administered to the patient to get a diagnostic image. Say we look at 250 patients data, this might involves looking at 1000 images in total. There may be 4 different 'doses'/images for each patient to determine which is the optimal dose given for a diagnostic test.

The questions that need to be asked in the application are:
1. The results required in order to achieve the defined outcome of x is y.
2. These will be evaluated using….
3. The type of analysis used will be…

HELP!! I really am a novice at this stuff so appreciate your input!

Hi thanks

The data will be a a radiation dose in megabequarels. The image is created from counts onto a gamma camera and we need a certain dose in order to generate enough counts to produce an optimum image....

I am still struggling with your description. So you are planning to prospective use 4 different dosage to find the optimal dosage. How is optimal defined? So the outcome will be formatted how, a percentage, etc. and you will say the best dosage value for the outcome is the best. I guess it would also help to provide an example slice of what your study data will look like, something like the following??? So how is it formatted and how do you declare an optimal?


patient 1: dosage 1: y=25%; dosage 2: y=34%; dosage 3: y=42%; dosage 4: y=87%.

Hi Asha,

Please let me know what is your criteria for determining which is the optimal dose/image for deciding out of 4 dosages as to which one is the optimal for a given patient...

For a given patient, do let me know, how have you defined "certain" as in dose and "optimum" as in image
