Vertical and horizontal error bars - PlotCI errbar?

#1
Hi all,

I'm trying to produce a simple plot with means for three groups with SE bars on both x and y axis ('cross hairs' might describe it best, as in the jpg attached).

My data are also as attached xls (sorry I'm new to the forum and not sure how to attach data any other way just yet).

I've have been trying with plotCI and errbar but to be honest I'm struggling to 'read' the data into the code if that makes sense. I admit to not understanding where to substitute my data headings into the code.

Here's what I've been trying..

plotCI(x,y = NULL, uiw, liw = uiw, ui, li, err='y', ylim=NULL, xlim+NULL, type="p", col=par("col"), barcol=col, pt.bg = par("bg"), sfrac = 0.01, gap=1, lwd=par("lwd"), lty=par("lty"), labels=FALSE, add=FALSE, xlab, ylab, minbar, maxbar,...)

Also is this code only for vertical error bars and adding horizontals requires me to edit and repeat?

Can you help?

Thanks for your patience, I am new to R and realize this may seem obvious to most, if not all!

This is as far as I can get..

d13C=c(-14.2045,-11.8577,-27.5783)
d15N=c(14.67219,11.81613,18.08567)
CId13C=c(1.071,0.672,0.467)
CId15N=c(0.546,0.252,0.188)
df=data.frame(d13C,d15N,CId13C,CId15N)
df
plot(d13C,d15N)

How might I add these CI's to the plot?

Many thanks

So I've managed to get the vertical CI's using plotCI but still no further forward on adding the horizontals...

Here's the code so far..

d13C=c(-14.2045,-11.8577,-27.5783)
d15N=c(14.67219,11.81613,18.08567)
CId13C=c(1.071,0.672,0.467)
CId15N=c(0.546,0.252,0.188)
df=data.frame(d13C,d15N,CId13C,CId15N)
df
plot(d13C,d15N)
library(gplots)
plotCI(d13C,d15N, uiw=CId13C, liw=CId13C, pch=3)

Can anyone help with the horizontals?

Thanks

K
