i am an undergraduate student in applied statistics ,,my minor is psychology
I''ll graduate this term ..I like statistics ..and I hope to spread the statistical awareness in the institutions of government
In my view, statistics is such as the sea..what I've learned equal to a one drop of this sea!!

That is how I felt at the end my undergrad career as well. Then I went to grad school and realized that what I thought was a sea looks like a drop compared to what is actually there.

Stats include lots of branches .. It's hard to be a specialist in all

I think the lack of response is due to the fact that people put this info (or whatever they want to share) in their profile. I work as a Senior QA Engineer for a large consumer packaged goods company.

It is interesting to note that as a statistician, I am supposed to be interested in studying and analyzing variation, but as a QA Engineer, I am being paid to abhor variation and design systems to eliminate and/or minimize it....

I am working on improving the quality of statistical education for engineers at my university (where I teach).
I am curious what you (and any other engineers!) use most by way of statistical methodology, and also
what statistical software is used most often in engineering settings. Any suggestions/comments/recommendations?

Undergrad at Sacramento State Engineering.. Work testing, analyzing, and characterizing experimental memory chips.

Learning Python.. still a noob tho.. Lots of MATLAB, usually for solving large systems of non-linear equations, and outputting pretty plots for my LaTex reports. But my job uses R, and I've been replacing many of my MATLAB workflows with R. (MATLAB is expensive and I'm too cheap to buy it for my personal computers.)

I've a Ph.D in Experimental Psychology doing research in human associative learning. Got my stats training at the University of Vermont with David Howell (univariate) & Larry Gordon (multivariate).
I like to think I have a fair grasp of the stats I use, but I'm firmly on the consumer end of the procedures. I'm the guy who takes your tools and abuses them.

Oh god help me. Everyone here is just like I'm a doctor, I work for the government, I'm super smart and I'm just over here I'm an undergrad who's already having trouble with elementary statistics. lol
As for what I do for a living, I work as a CNA right now. I'm hoping to be an RN in a couple of years though :3

I teach/coach statistics to engineers in real life environments, that is after they have long forgotten all you guys are teaching them Coaching means applying the stuff to solve problems at their workplace. generally simple stuff, but sometimes amazingly efficient.

Just the latest example, we are looking at an acceptance test in a chemical industrial setting where produvt quality, reagent quality and test procedures might all affect the final result. We now see pretty strong signs that there is an interaction between product type an reagent type - if so, this could save them a lot of unnecessary work.
