Dear Everyone,

Does anyone know what test SPSS uses in the explore function found in the descriptives section? I assume it is something like Grubb's test but I can't find any info on this. At the moment I am just looking at the stem-and-leaf diagram to spot my outliers (marked as a dot, or star, and have an ID next to them).

Also, does anyone know of a better, more sophisticated way to detect outliers for my data. I work in the biology field so my data is normally quite variable, often non-parametric, and normally has an 'n' of less than 20 for each condition. My data is also unpaired, i.e. all the conditions are from different samples.

Please let me know if any further information is required to answer this question.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Tim
