Where did I go wrong in these three questions?

#1
Hi everyone,

I just finished taking an online test and found out that some of my answers were wrong. The questions and answers can be found in attached screenshots.

Question 1 (Suppose T and Z are random variables)

I got no credit looks like it is completely wrong.

Question 2 (A game of chance is played....) I got partial credit: 2/5 not sure where I went wrong.

And finally Question 3 (According to an article,...) Again partial credit. 9/16

Can you please point out where they went wrong and how to correct the mistakes? I don't have a single clue on how to do the first question. Can someone please tell me the steps maybe with an example?

Please help!

Thanks in advance

just for q1- there is no way a probability can be negative, so, yes, you were completely wrong. I guess you would need to review the basics of probability calculus before trying this test.

Hey, thank you for your feedback. I did realize it after the test. What are the steps of solving that problem?

And also what is wrong in Questions 2 and 3?

Thanks

Keep in mind for question 2 that if a question asks how much you will lose that in the answer a positive value indicates a loss and a negative value indicates a profit. If they asked how much you would win then a negative value would indicate losing money.

Q3 First decide what kind of probability distribution you need, and what are the parameters. Also, you can not have a probability that is greater than 1 :)
