Spunky has now spit on all distributions. I want to make it clear I don't know him Distributions are mean and have an infinite memory....

#### spunky

##### Can't make spagetti
I'M NOT AFRAID OF THEM!!!!
except for a specific one that must-not-be-named.... *shivers*

I hear that the patriarch Normal gave the job to...cautchy...

to...cautchy...
NOOOOOO!!! THE CAUCHYYYY DISTRIBUTION!!!!

CAUCHY...YOU HAVE NO POWER HERE...
SERVANT OF MORGORTH!!!
You...are... NAMELESS...FACELESS...FORMLESS..MOMENTLESS!!!

GO BACK TO THE VOID FROM WHENCE YOU CAAAAAAMEEE!!!!

(^^ btw, if you haven't watched The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies this won't make sense!!! )

That only works on evil and math is neither good nor evil. Just as importantly the ring Nenya faded with the destruction of the One Ring. So it can't protect you against Cautchy...

oh, but there is evil.... GREAT EVIL in mathematics. the Cauchy Distribution is just one of its most evil personifications. the Witch of Agnesi is another one (equivalent to the Cauchy Distribution). she probably likes to draw unsuspecting children to her candy house and eat them. other (less evil) mathematics include (but are not restricted to) epislon-delta arguments, double integrals in polar coordinates, an a great deal of non-elliptical distributions and operators that you think are linear when you start working on them but turns out they're NOT D:

oh! but that is not the Nenya ring! that's the Phial of Galadriel that she would later give to Frodo to help in his journey and which Sam used defeat the giant spider Shelob! it's a well-known fact that elvish magic holds great power against the deviancy of the Cauchy Distribution.

But all of those are beautiful things!

Spunky is confusing difficult or unusual with evil. Patterns in data are neither evil nor good, they simply are. Although it is tempting to say matrix algebra truly is evil...

The waters of Galadrial are not nearly as powerful as the ring Nenya. It is clearly the ring she is using in the movie not the water [which in any case was abandoned when the High Elves left middle earth so it is not available]. The light comes from her hand and if it was container of water it would not have vanished as it does in the movie. Only the ring can not be seen. The water is water.

OMG NOETSI! why do you have to be so difficult! nothing vanishes. after that scene, the faints, the light disappears and you can clearly see she's holding the phial. look at it:

look at how when she's holding it you can clearly see the neck of the phial and the water is shining at the bottom..

Agreed just saw the movie last night. Most enjoyable. We need to resurrect Tolkien to write the original 3 books that discuss the original great battle and the rings and their holders in more detail.

1) At the end there is nothing in her hand or on the ground. Only the ring vanishes not the phial. For that matter she is not holding anything before the conflict.

2) The water of galadrial simply is not powerful enough to drive Sauron off. Only the Elvish ring is.

It might be pointed out that this is not part of Tolkien generally - the author created it. In the book it makes clear that the White Council, as a group including Gandalf, drove off Sauron (although in reality he simply chose to reteat to mask his strength). Since there was a large force of orcs at this point and time it would have taken military support to deal with it in any case not a few individuals however strong( that is Dul Guldur).

An amusing mistake in the movie that the editor missed is that at one point Thorin calls Bilbo Frodo Who had not been born yet.
