# Not sure what test to use- HELP

##### New Member
The following question is being asked for an university assignment:

''Conduct a test to determine if on average there are more pieces produced on a day when products of type A are produced than on a day when product type D is produced. Write down the value of the test statistic and the conclusion of the test. Also conduct a test to conclude if on average there are more pieces produced when the manager is present than on a day when the manager is not present. Again write down the value of the test statistic and the conclusion of the test. Use α=2.5%. ''

Which test should be used for SPSS to conduct this research?

Thanks for helping!

I was thinking about the paired sample test, but it is not working

yashrampersad, why did you think about a paired sample test? What is the prominent feature of such a test?

I believe the prominent feature of that test is that it measures one group twice. If that is not that case I should use the independent sample t-test. Which measures two distinct groups. I initially thought this question implied the same group gets measured twice but now I am not sure

You have one group of days where A is produced, and one distinct group where B ist produced.
Therefore, an analysis for repeated mesures (dependent samples) will not fit. In addition, there
is no hint how to create pairs of A-days with B-days, as far as I can see.
